DFB's employee education curriculum includes six content domains, which collectively cover the important drug- and alcohol-related topics for employees. Each content domain focuses on a particular subject. Each subject is extensively researched.

We draw information from these six domains for our employee education courses.

  1.  Drug-Free
     Workplace Programs
The problem of substance abuse; background and legal basis for DFWP programs; DFWP program components; employee protections; employer rights and responsibilities; substance abuse testing; and employee assistance.

  2.  Alcohol Alcohol and alcoholic beverages; alcohol impairment; alcohol, law and policy; alcohol and special populations; alcohol and risky behaviors; and alcohol-related organizations.

  3.  Drugs of Abuse Drug scheduling and control; 5-panel drugs (amphetamines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates and phencyclidine); frequently abused prescription drugs; club drugs; emerging drugs; and drugs and special populations.

  4.  Mind and Body Brain structure and functioning; substances and the brain; substances and the body; and general and specific effects on health.

  5.  Use, Abuse
     and Dependence
Abstinence; patterns of alcohol and drug use and abuse; dependence models and etiologies; dependence-related behaviors, including defenses, enabling and co-dependence; nicotine and other dependencies.

  6.  Prevention
     and Treatment
Personal prevention; community and workplace prevention; screening and assessment; intervention; treatment process, methods and efficacy; and handling emergencies.
